My Journey
Me
I am a textile, art, and craft artist and educator based in East Sussex. Originally from Scotland, I studied in the Scottish Borders, here my passion for textiles and creative making blossomed. I then ventured into the clothing industry, working as a designer for the MOD and various outdoor brands. While these roles were exciting and took me around the world, I realized I wanted to settle down and enjoy time with my cats.
My next move was into education, teaching art and textiles in secondary schools for 16 years. During that time, I developed a wealth of knowledge in creative techniques, design processes, and teaching methods. Many of my students went on to study at prestigious art schools and pursue successful creative careers, which remains one of my proudest achievements. The move also led me to gain more cats, a husband and a son.
My Art
Now from my home studio in the picturesque village of High Hurstwood, I create artwork in my garden workshop, surrounded by beautiful fields and mum and baby cows as I write. My artistic inspiration draws from various sources, with colour at the core of my work. Nature, fantasy, and feline companions all influence my unique and expressive creations across different mediums.
My workshops
Having taught art and textiles in secondary schools for 16 years, I made the leap to self-employment at the start of 2020. I have cultivated a diverse range of creative skills techniques, and I am passionate about empowering others to explore their creativity and build confidence in their artistic endeavors. I offer friendly, tailored tuition from my studio and am available for workshops, parties, and social events at your preferred location.
For your peace of mind, I hold a current DBS certificate, as does my husband, who occasionally assists with workshops-usually by keeping everyone supplied with tea, coffee, and homemade treats!
